When talking about apartments in Jordan, we mean those in "Irbid", "Ajloun", "Aqaba", "Zarqa'a", "Al-Salt" plus many other cities, nevertheless we will concentrate our focus on the Amman apartments since it is the number one choice for the majority of citizens and that is because of the services available in it. Expats consider Amman to be the best city in Jordan to settle in, since it provides different choices for all the people in the society. Rents vary a lot according to the region; in rich districts the rents are way higher than rents in other average districts.
The people that used to live in Eastern Amman will find that life is totally different than in Western Amman. To be more precise, they would notice a huge difference in the prices between those two parts of the capital city. Eastern Amman witnessed a huge increase in the prices of the residential apartments that includes, Studio apartments, shared apartments, duplex apartments as well as family-sized apartments. This increase was due to the noticeable rise in all prices in general- and consequently; apartments' prices were effected. Another important reason for this increase is the huge number of immigrants from Iraq and Syria, who came to settle in Jordan because of the current circumstances and crises in their countries.
The main factor that led to this increase is the law that allows the owners to increase prices according to life conditions. After announcing this law, prices noticeably increased, some old apartments' rents were just JD 40! Which is impossible to find these days, the rent of an apartment with the same features and size would now cost around JD 100 or even more.
The same happens in western Amman where rents considerably increased to more than JD 1000 a month.
The current circumstances and crises in the region made Jordan very crowded because of the huge number of immigrants who came to Jordan seeking stability, security, and safety. Consequently, prices increased rapidly. What makes the case worse is that prices are expected to continue increasing because of the unstable situation in the region in general and because of the rise in the oil derivatives' prices, and it is well known that any increase in the oil derivatives' prices will affect the prices of the cement, iron, and all other building materials.
Many Jordanian citizens all over the country are continuously complaining about the increased prices. "Al Ramtha" district for instance; lots of Syrians moved to settle in it, so real estate owners increased the rent prices; "The higher the demand the higher the price."
The same thing happened in Irbid which is close to "Al-Ramtha"-. Other governorates like Al-Zarqa" witnessed a considerable increase as well. Al Zarqa is divided into "New Zarqah" and "Old Zarqah", those increases mostly occured in "new Zarqah'a". Rents there vary from JD 200-250 for a middle sized apartment, the rent of the same apartment in "Old Zarqa'a" vary from JD 100-150. The same applies to the other cities, like "Al-Salt", "Al- Karak", and "Aqaba", prices vary according to the neighborhood.
